About Me.

Hello, I am Krista, the founder of Pawsitive Pups Dog Training, located in San Diego, California. My lifelong passion for animals, specifically dogs, has led me to establish this business. From my early years, I have been involved in dog walking and sitting for neighbors and family friends. Prior to pursuing a career in dog training, I was a psychology student and have also gained extensive experience working with groomers, breeders, and veterinarians, including a Veterinary Assistant certification and an AAS in Veterinary Technology.

My professional journey as a dog trainer began at a Petco store in Eastlake, California, where I spent five years working with hundreds of different breeds, sizes, and temperaments, both in-store and with personal clients outside of the store. My exceptional skills and dedication led to my appointment as Senior Dog Trainer for the district, where I mentored new Dog Trainer Students, guiding them until they were fully equipped to teach their classes.

Teaching dogs, owners, and apprentices came naturally to me and brought me great joy. To deepen my knowledge and enhance my skills, I founded Pawsitive Pups Dog Training, where we offer a wide range of specialized services to our clients. At Pawsitive Pups Dog Training, we take pride in our commitment to providing the highest level of training and care for your beloved pets.

Positive reinforcement dog training is a popular and effective approach to training dogs that involves rewarding desired behaviors rather than punishing unwanted behaviors. This method is based on the idea that dogs are more likely to repeat behaviors that are positively reinforced with treats, praise, or other rewards, rather than those that are punished or corrected. Positive reinforcement dog training uses science-based methods to encourage and reward good behavior, such as sitting, staying, and coming when called, while ignoring or redirecting unwanted behavior. This approach helps to build a strong bond of trust and communication between the dog and owner and creates a positive, enjoyable training experience for both parties. At Pawsitive Pups Dog Training, we specialize in positive reinforcement dog training and use this approach to help our clients achieve their training goals while strengthening their relationship with their furry friends.
